Healthy Foods for Kids to Keep a Healthy Mouth

Here at Puget Sound Pediatric Dentistry, we recommend some of the following foods for your child to maintain a healthy mouth.

Dairy Products


Milk, yogurt, cheeses, and other dairy products are some of the best foods for your child and the health of their mouth. Dairy products are high in calcium, phosphates, and vitamin D. Calcium is a crucial mineral for strong teeth and bones, including your jawbone. It aids in the remineralization of the teeth, helping to strengthen the enamel and protect it against the acid attacks of plaque and oral bacteria. Dairy helps to neutralize acid levels in the mouth, raising the pH level, which helps to reduce the risk of your child developing tooth decay and cavities. Additionally, cheese stimulates saliva production. Saliva also aids in the remineralization of the teeth while killing oral bacteria and washing them away.

Hard, Crunchy Fruits and Veggies
