What is Preventative Dentistry?
Preventative Dentistry is caring for your teeth to maintain their health. We ask to see our young patients at least twice a year for office visits. During these visits, we will perform a dental cleaning and exam. Following your child's dental cleaning with our dental hygienist, we will check for small and large issues, checking the status of their teeth and gums. We may do this using a scope or digital x-rays. Should we find that a problem exists, we can treat most issues in office. Part of our preventative service include the placement of sealants once your child has most of their permanent teeth.
The most important part of preventative dentistry with our adolescent patients is education. Our dentists, along with our hygienists, will take the time to educate your child on both techniques and information of why it is so important to care for their teeth.
What is Restorative Dentistry?
Restorative Dentistry is bringing your teeth back to health. When your child's teeth have been damaged due to decay or breakage, we can complete the repairs to make their teeth healthy and functional. The most common restorative dental treatment for children is the removal of decay and filling in of cavities with composite quartz material. This is a mostly painless procedure, we will apply a local anesthetic to numb the pain. We ask that parents only present a positive image of seeing your child's dentist. We want to encourage feelings of comfort with your children, how they feel about us could impact their feelings of dentist offices into and through adulthood.
